Take Action

Here are three ways that you can support the Canadian Rental Housing Coalition:

1. Endorse the Charter

If you represent a local government, business or non-profit organization, you can help expand the Canadian Rental Housing Coalition on a national scale to advocate the nine goals outlined in the Charter to meet Canada’s rental housing needs.

2. Start a local Coalition

  • Review the resources available on our site for background info.
  • Arrange a meeting with decision makers from key local stakeholders.  It is helpful to bring together a range of organizations such as:
    • Private Sector Housing/Development (Home Builders, Real Estate Board,
    • Non-profit Housing Sector Organization
    • Tenant Organization
    • Municipal/Regional government
    • Business Community representative
    • Financial Institution/Credit Union
    • Discuss issues related to the local supply of rental housing:  look for common ground.
  • Every municipality is different but many communities are struggling with a need for rental housing.
  • The Charter provides a good basis for discussion, and consensus  building.  Each stakeholder will have a specific agenda, but the coalition is about focusing on the key fundamental  points of agreement about stimulating rental housing supply that will then help build a strong voice for stimulating rental housing development in Canada.
